Mornas

Moved from Aix-en-Provence this morning to a village around 40kms north of Avignon only to find that it is hotter here than it was down there (43.5 degrees).

Just before Avignon we stopped for lunch at a very large mall, so large that they had a 4 carriage “train” taking kids for a ride around the mall. Apart from the train the mall was sparsely populated other than in the hyper market.

Hyper markets that we have seen are huge and very difficult to describe but would be at least the size of two football fields and be the equivalent of Pak N Save, The Warehouse, Briscoes and Palmers Garden Centre all in one.

Our accommodation is a very tidy studio flat detached from the main house in a rural setting, the property being blessed with a pool but very poor to non-existent Wifi so I’m not going to tempt to publish the blog with photos as I sense that would be a stretch too far - so possibly words only for the next 11 days.

Though the accommodation website indicates the hosts can speak English the reality is She, who seems to be the main man, can’t and He has a smattering only.

Once we had settled in we drove back and walked through the historic part of the village which was well maintained. High above the village is a fortress which we will walk to one morning before the heat settles in.

Back from the village we spent some time in the pool bringing the body temperature down and then enjoyed a fabulous three course meal prepared by She (if English is not her forte cooking certainly is!).

We ended the day going for a short walk along the country roads.

There is a TV in the studio but from first play all channels are in French and with the poor wifi watching Netflix on the iPad is unlikely to be successful.

Kms driven today 115
