Sucked in again!!!

With our time in Nuremberg over we relocated to Würzburg, a city north west of Nuremberg. As the drive was relatively short we deviated to visit Bamberg another city in the north of Bavaria located at the mouth of the Regnitz and Main rivers and extending over 7 hills (not that we noticed that).

The old town is characterised by its well preserved buildings dating from the 11th to the 19th century particularly the Old Town Hall decorated with facade paintings and located on an island in the Regnitz.

Like all cities and towns in Germany the retail shops, apart from weinstubes, cafes and restaurants, are closed on a Sunday so the atmosphere tends to be created by tourists (like ourselves) who are travelling around.

We called into a church this morning but left relatively promptly as a service was in full swing and we couldn’t understand a word which was being said!!!

The door of a building leading to one of the bridges caught the eye as it followed the curve of the bridge

There was activity on the river, a gondola & a tourist sightseeing boat, as locals pulled the coin from tourists pockets

An interesting stop!

Arrived in Würzburg, mid afternoon and found the hotel easily as at 17 stories it is very visible approaching the city.

Our room is on the 14th floor and gives a good view over the city….

….. it is marketed as an executive room with a kitchenette and while it is very nice and spacious who would have thought that a kitchenette consists only of a microwave, sink, 2 plate stove top and a fridge.

No plates,
no pots and pans
no cooking utensils,
no knives or forks,
no toaster,
no kettle,
no cups,
no f…ing use!

Asked at reception whether there was a kettle available and after a hunt through the kitchen it transpired that there wasn’t so that will have to be a purchase tomorrow.

While the marketing of the room was successful it does leave the feeling of being sucked in.
Oh the joys of travelling!

Temperature today was in the mid 30s and will remain that way until 8 or 9 tonight which had us scurrying for every bit of shade we could find.
