Dumb as!!

Today was a planned quieter day, it being Saturday.

We ventured out mid morning so that Sherry could have a further poke around in some shops, a poke which was mildly successful before we moved across to the Hauptmarkt area so that, along with many other tourists, we could watch the Glockenspiel which plays every day at noon

My video of it is here

Our research suggested that there was a nice place for lunch so straight after the Glockenspiel ended we set the Google Maps app alight and strode off the 1.6kms to the cafe. It was hot, no it was very hot, so we tried to stay in the shade as much as possible all the way.

Imagine how silly we felt when we got there and found it closed on a Saturday - talk about dumb, even novices would have checked that it was going to be open!!

Not wishing to drop from overheating we made our way to the nearest underground station and with the help of a young couple found the train that would take us back into the city and so around an hour after we set off we were back in the Aldstadt sitting down for lunch and a cool drink.

Further shopping followed before we set off to the “Way of Human Rights” a monument created in 1988 by an Israeli artist which consists of a massive white portal, 2 pavement panels and 28 columns, each column and pavement panel being engraved in two languages (German plus one other) with one of the articles from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

For example the 1st article reads “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”

As we walked back to our hotel mid afternoon we walked alongside of the walls that encircled the city at one time

which were in contrast with the modernity of the Neus Museum

After 4 days in Nuremberg, a city we would recommend others to visit, we move on tomorrow.
