Dinkelsbühl was first, an almost unspoilt townscape dating back over 400 years with mighty churches, proud houses, some semi-timbered, making Dinkelsbühl “one of the closely packed and best preserved medieval towns in Germany” according to an art historian
Then it was onto Donauwörth which is located at the confluence of the Wörnitz and Danube rivers and was the former Free Imperial Town of Donauwörth. It was originally a fishing settlement on an island on the Wörnitz.
The Main Street, Reichsstrasse, is said to be one of the most attractive streets in South Germany
Checked in here in Augsburg mid afternoon and have an apartment on level 26 of the highest building in the city which gives a panoramic view of the area
Have had our first look around a rather impressive centrum which we will explore tomorrow.
