Cap Finistere

I blog as we sail south to Spain aboard the Cap Finistere a ferry operated by Brittany Ferries and a smooth operation they certainly run.

From the time we arrived at the ferry terminal until we had parked the car on the ship and put our small overnight bag in our modest but acceptable cabin would have been no more than 30 minutes.

The boat is reasonably well appointed with a cinema, playground for the children, various bars, a cafe and a restaurant and can accommodate 500 cars & 850 passengers and has a crew of 107.

Currently we are steaming at 28 knots across the English Channel and into the Bay of Biscay and we will arrive in Bilbao at midday tomorrow being in another 21 hours.

With the restaurant booked for dinner tonight there is not much else to do other than have a walk around the outer deck, have a coffee, watch Wimbledon on the numerous TVs around the main deck or relax in the cabin and write a blog!

The following photos were taken as we moved down the Solent and out into the Channel.

We complain in NZ about the health service and based on an experience we had yesterday we have every right to - we had need of a doctor yesterday so called into a medical centre and was able to get an appointment for later in the day. At the appointment there was no waiting, there was no charge for the consultation and there was no charge at the pharmacy to have a script filled - not bad when we have made no contribution to the British tax system other than any VAT on our normal spend! We were impressed!
