A challenge...

...if you like chocolate then you might like to take on the challenge to munch your way through this creationwhich is a typical Swiss house on display in a chocolaterie and made entirely of chocolate, in fact 27 kilos of chocolate and took 80 hours to build.

Geneva is a city where there are all, and I mean all, top brands available for purchase whether that is designer clothes, designer bags, designer jewellery or high value watches. The predominant language spoken is French, one of the 4 official languages in Switzerland (the others being German, Italian and Romansh) and given the proximity of France, walk through the airport and you step out into France, that is no surprise.

If you have an interest in jewellery then the following gives you some idea of what might be available (rule of thumb add 50% to convert to NZD)We spent quite a few hours wandering around the Old Town which houses the Cathedral and the oldest residential property in Geneva which is now a “museum”After lunch in a terrace cafe on Terrasse Agrippa-D’Aubigne we moved back downtown using every available area of shade..
...and walked around the shores of Lake Geneva and out on the “pier” to Le Jet d’eau which is the centrepiece of the inner harbour. It is a fountain shooting 140 meters into the air and while we hoped that we might have enjoyed being cooled off by walking under it, the wind had the water falling away from the pier. The fountain is visible from many parts of the inner city as it rises high above the buildings along the lake front.
We spent the rest of the afternoon window shopping (inside shops😁), had an earlish meal in town and then caught the #5 back to the hotel.

On previous trips we have been dismayed by the doggie culture in respect of leaving droppings in the street, however in view of what is now being provided perhaps things are changing
