Daring!

After chatting with family back home (made Sherry homesick given the recent events) we trotted off to the fruit and vegetable market to get some cherry tomatoes 🍅, goats cheese and a hunk of bread to go with some fresh figs we had & Sherry made a nice fresh salad for lunch.

We decided to go out to the beach this afternoon but this time instead of the train/tram/bus scenario we thought we would be daring and take the car as I figured that the hardest thing would be getting in and out of the underground carpark - I wasn't wrong!

Once out into the street we then had to navigate without the help of the GPS while it took sometime to pick up enough satellites to calculate the route and from there on it was a breeze.

The water today was not quite as warm as two days ago and was a little bit more rough with a strongish undertow but thankfully the "garbage" that was in the water the other day had moved away - the beach was as usual crowded & yes the topless ladies were still out in force and as previously we enjoyed, tempered by the realisation that this might be our last swim in the Mediterranean ever!

Having left the apartment when the All Blacks were leading the Wantabees 40-6 at halftime I was looking forward to knowing the final score and was therefore surprised how the Wantabees had obviously fought back in the second half.

I had mentioned in previous posts how Valencia has some impressive buildings and as we strolled through an area not far from the apartment last night we were not disappointed to find

The Basilica

The Cupola in the Basilica

Another thing we have noticed are the beautiful large doors in some of the buildings in the area around us

They really are quite eye catching.

Tonight is our last night in Valencia, a city we have enjoyed, as tomorrow we move on to Zaragoza which is some 310kms inland from Valencia and will be our longest drive so far on the trip - by the time we arrive we will have clicked over 4200kms in the 3008.
