A long drive today and a short blog - the drive was a touch under 270 kms and took the best part of 4 hours which is a long haul for us.
Out of Matera there was a very nice highway through some pleasant plain like countryside but the downside was that the speed limit was a very pedestrian 60kph for around the first 30k or so which made it feel like you weren’t getting anywhere, then it increased to 90kph for a good length which seemed way too slow for the many vehicles that sped past us.
On arrival here we found the town unkempt and dead (it is a Sunday and siesta time so that is not a surprise).
Had a quick look around the main area which was very uninspiring, found a carpark for where we wanted to go tomorrow and made our way to our accommodation- a very large 2 bedroom apartment with a delightful garden - pears, walnuts, grapes, figs, oranges , cacti and a lot more. When we arrived the host said the garden “is free”, so I hope that means it was ok to uplift a few figs!
Our apartment overlooks the garden and the window in the distance directly above the path is the rear of it.
